‘Had a shocker’, ‘Liability’ – Tottenham fans hammer one man following narrow Palace victory

Tottenham supporters were in high spirits in the Transfer Tavern on Sunday after seeing their side narrowly beat Crystal Palace 1-0 in the Premier League to go level on points with second place Manchester United.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men went into their clash with the Eagles off the back of a stunning victory over European champions Real Madrid in the Champions League, yet there appeared to be some sort of a hangover at Wembley on Sunday. The North London outfit were far from their best but they did collect all three points from proceedings thanks to Son Heung-min’s 64th minutes strike, a result which moved them level on points with Jose Mourinho’s United prior to their 1-0 defeat to champions Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Thus, several of our resident Spurs fans were reasonably satisfied in the Tavern on Sunday even if the performance from their team was somewhat lacking, and it has certainly given them a feel-good factor heading into the international break as their side are firmly in the title race, and indeed into the last 16 of the Champions League.

However, in what was a lethargic Spurs display at Wembley on Sunday, one man in particular drew much criticism from Tottenham supporters on Twitter after the match, namely summer signing Serge Aurier.

The 24-year-old made the move to England from French giants Paris Saint-Germain during the close season but has so far struggled to regularly dislodge Kieran Trippier from the right-back slot, with yesterday only his fifth Premier League appearance of the campaign.

And the Ivory Coast star didn’t cover himself in glory with an erratic performance at Wembley, one which stimulated quite a negative reaction from Spurs fans on social media…
