The Everton fans in the Transfer Tavern are eager for their side to sign a new forward in January…
Despite a fantastic performance from Oumar Niasse over the weekend, supporters are under no illusions that their problems are far from over. Romelu Lukaku’s departure left a sizeable hole in the Toffees’ attack, and the return of Niasse isn’t enough to fill it.
It will come as no real shock, then, to learn of Everton’s interest in another forward. According to Transfer Market Web, Danny Welbeck of Arsenal is attracting the Toffees, and whilst the Gunners are attempting to secure his future, Everton are said to be keen on a potential move in the future.
Though he has suffered from injuries lately, Welbeck has proven his worth since swapping Manchester for London.
For Arsenal, he has transitioned to more of a winger than a centre-forward, and this is a role that has suited him. Supremely hard-working, the Englishman drives up and down the line for the Gunners, and that has really impressed the fans in the Transfer Tavern.
He has already bagged 3 Premier League goals this season, so his threat in the final third is also evident.
This is exciting the Everton fans in the Transfer Tavern.
Welbeck is a top forward, even though his goalscoring record doesn’t reflect that.
What he lacks in goals, though, he more than makes up for in overall play – and he has continually impressed for Arsenal since moving to the club.
If the likes of Wayne Rooney and Tom Davies can step up and contribute more in front of goal, Welbeck could then make the best of his quality as a provider, and that could be fantastic for the club.
That said, if the club can get Edinson Cavani in – a player that they are said to be keen on – then the club could be taken to another level entirely.
