Harrison Reed leaves Southampton on loan

Southampton have just seen one man depart the St. Mary’s Stadium this summer as he looks to get regular football.

According to an official statement on the club’s website, Harrison Reed has completed a season-long loan deal to Blackburn Rovers.

The 23-year-old, who has featured for the Saints 30 times in the first-team, had spent last season out on loan at Norwich City and will be able to give Tony Mowbray’s side some added experience.

The Ewood Park outfit are currently unbeaten in the Championship, sitting fifth with nine points and have two wins and three draws to their name.

Reed was unlikely to have a chance to make an impact at the Saints this season, following the arrival of Stuart Armstrong and with Mario Lemina already in the middle of the park.

The midfielder will be looking to make an impression during his time at Blackburn and will want to give Mark Hughes a decision to make next season.

The Verdict:

With Reed potentially struggling to get into the first-team at Southampton this season, a loan move away from St. Mary’s Stadium will be beneficial for him.

He quietly impressed during his time on loan at Norwich last year and will be hoping to have a similar impact when he joins up with his new team-mates at Ewood Park.

The experience he could gain from his time at Blackburn could be hugely beneficial and Southampton will be looking forward to watching him develop closely.
