The Tottenham goalkeeper used to be the first choice for Spurs not so long ago. But how times have changed.
The former PSV goalkeeper signed for Tottenham in 2008 for a fee thought to be around £8 milion. Game after game, Gomes would be the first choice for any game, but after 2 huge mistakes, he did not see a single minute of game time in the 2011/12 season.
What were those costly mistakes?
Firstly, a spilled ball at Stamford Bridge last year saw Chelsea score their first of 2 goals under controversial circumstances. Whilst it was later shown that the ball never crossed the line, the mistake from Gomes in such a high profile derby started to show his demise.
Secondly, a goal away at Fulham which basically saw Gomes punch the ball into his own net highlighted Gomes’ poor ball control, constant slip ups and finally provided the rest of the Premier League with a laughing stock.

So what is next for the former first choice Tottenham goalie?
According to the Metro, QPR are plotting a move for the Brazilian keeper with rumours also circulating that Paddy Kenny will move to Leeds, where he will reunite with his former manager Neil Warnock.
So will he be missed then?
Well considering that Spurs conceded 7 less goals this season with Friedel in goal in contrast to the prior season with Gomes in goal, I’ll let you decide.
