Harry Redknapp is planning a £15 million January raid on mid-table Primera Liga side Athletic Bilbao’s marksman Fernando Llorente. The Spanish international is highly prized all over Europe with some of the Champions League big-guns linked with a move.
Llorente, 25, as with all Spanish players has a minimum release clause in his contract but unfortunately for Redknapp it is believed to be in excess of £30 million. The powerful frontman is currently third in the race for the Pichichi with 9 goals to his credit.
Redknapp is allegedly none to impressed with the goal scoring return of his current strikers, so much so in fact that Robbie Keane and Roman Pavlyuchenko are expected to find alternative employers in January.
Llorentes lack of European involvement this term is another attraction for Spurs, particularly with Champions League knock-out qualification secured. He would be legible for any fixtures whether at home or abroad.
Redknapp will face stiff opposition from Real Madrid, Barcelona and closer to home Manchester United for the signature of the 13 cap striker.
