Inter Milan’s Goran Pandev is the latest forward to be linked with a move to White Hart Lane after Tottenham joined Sevilla in the running to sign the out-of-favour front man, ItaSport has reported.
The Macedonian captain is currently on a season-long loan with Serie A club Napoli where he is struggling to nail down a first team place, which also happens to be the same reason why Inter allowed him to temporarily move on. Pandev signed for the Nerazzurri in January 2010 after being ‘frozen out’ by former club Lazio but his uninspiring form saw him drop down the pecking order and now he finds himself in a similar situation in Naples.
Harry Redknapp was previously linked with a move for the 28 year-old forward before he eventually favoured a move to the San Siro but the Spurs boss may look to renew his interest. Sevilla are the only other club who have shown an interest in Pandev with reports suggesting the forward could be available on another loan deal in January if it suits all parties involved.
Incidentally, Sevilla’s interest in Pandev could depend on whether they can come to an agreement with Spurs over a deal for left-sided forward Giovani Dos Santos who is also frustrated at the lack of first-team opportunities at White Hart Lane. Tottenham had supposedly priced Sevilla out of a move for the Mexican but if the asking price is lowered and the La Liga side can secure a deal for Dos Santos, Redknapp’s path to Pandev would become clear.
