Harry’s £30M Chelsea Raid Will Upset The Balance Of Power In London, ‘For Sure’

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp is reportedly ready to fight off competition for the services of Chelsea duo Didier Drogba and Alex.

The manager has expressed his desire for the Ivorian veteran in the past, and with initial contracts broken down between Drogba and Chelsea, Redknapp is keen to bolster his squad.

The 33-year-old striker will become a free agent at the end of the year, so Chelsea could be willing to let the Ivorian leave this January in order to cash in some money. As a Spurs fan I understand that Drogba is not getting any younger, nevertheless he would still be a great acquisition for Spurs if they were to land the striker. He would offer Spurs power and strength up front, something that we often lack which could be the answer to securing Spurs that 4th place.

The likes of Bayern Munich, PSG and Marseille have all declared their interest in Drogba, and with the striker himself stating it would be a dream to end his career with Marseille, Spurs face difficult competition. Although it is easy to have ideal dreams, it does not necessarily represent reality per se. So Spurs fans can still carry on believing.

With the striker having already settled in London with his family, a move to North London doesn’t seem too bad, and with the likes of Sturridge and Torres ahead of the veteran, he can feel a fresh challenge is on the cards. Drogba would also feel fairly confident in getting a regular place in the Spurs line up.

However not only do Chelsea feel hard done by the whole Modric saga but Drogba’s wage demands could hinder the deal. Considering that Spurs are already paying over the top for Emmanuel Adebayor, Drogba’s wage demands in addition, could be a challenging problem for Levy.

Tottenham are also hoping to lure Brazilian defender Alex to the Lane. The 29-year-old has found himself down the pecking order since the arrival of Brazilian compatriot David Luiz, and has only made two appearances so far this season. With the departure of Woodgate, and the injury concerns over King and Dawson, Alex could be a reliable player who does not only have a strong presence about him, but a thunderous left foot shot aswell. He could be a valuable and reliable player for Harry Redknapp.
