Tottenham target Alvaro Negredo could spark a Europe-wide bidding war after his agent revealed the striker might not agree a new deal with Sevilla.
Harry Redknapp tried to sign the former Real Madrid man in the last January transfer window but the Spanish club were unwilling to sell. As his current contract negotiations have become more protracted, the more likely Sevilla will want to cash in on the 26-year-old while they still can.
Even though Emmanuel Adebayor has made an instant impact at White Hart Lane it is thought Redknapp remains on the look out for a striker to extend his attacking options, following the departure of Peter Crouch and uncertainty over the future of Roman Pavlyuchenko.
Spurs are likely to face competition from Italian champions AC Milan as the Rossoneri have been monitoring Negredo’s form and there could be many more interested parties as he has already scored three league and two international goals this season. It has been rumoured that Russian club Rubin Kazan are prepared to out-bid any Itallian or English club once the January window opens as they are desperate to sign the highly rated Negredo.
Negredo’s agent, Alejandro Camano, said; “Sevilla wants to renew it [his contract] but that does not mean his future is indeed in Seville.”
A lot could depend on the form of Sevilla in the run up to the window, they failed to even qualify for the group stage of the Europa League, but if they are flying high in La Liga it may prove harder to prise the Spanish international away until nearer the end of his current contract in 2013.Like what the TT have on offer?
