Has Arsene Wenger’s future been decided?

Always a divisive figure, this news has split the Arsenal fans in the Football Transfer Tavern right down the middle…

For all of the stick that he has gotten in the Tavern over the last few months, the Arsenal faithful in-attendance tonight all respect the work that Arsene Wenger has done with the club since his arrival over 20 years ago.

The Frenchman has overseen the Gunners most successful period, and has led them to domestic glory on so many occasions.

Nonetheless, a lack of success in recent years has slowly built up a negative atmosphere amongst the Arsenal fans in the Tavern – and that has all come to a head with just one year left on the Frenchman’s Arsenal contract.

Arguments have been made back and forth on whether he should sign a deal – but it appears that his future might have been already decided…

According to the Daily Star, Arsene Wenger IS prepared to leave Arsenal at the end of the season – regardless of how well the club do this season.

Interestingly, this follows news that Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis has a plan in place should the Arsenal legend depart – which may have lead Wenger towards the exit door.

Whilst neither source is confirming that Wenger WILL leave this summer – everything is pointing towards a departure.

However – our landlord thinks that we should take all of this with a grain of salt.

Until Wenger himself confirms his departure personally, he will remain at the club. It seems unlikely that if Arsenal dominate the league this season and win a trophy that he will go – but stranger things have happened.

Arsenal and Wenger are intrinsically linked – and it will take a lot to break that bond.

The Frenchman’s future is very up in the air at the moment – but the Arsenal fans in the Tavern feel a swift resolution is needed in order to best plan for the future.
