Has Jack Stephens unfairly been made a scapegoat at Southampton?

Has Jack Stephens unfairly been made a scapegoat at Southampton? - Playmaker

Southampton haven’t always been able to keep things tight at the back this season but it’s safe to say that Ralph Hasenhuttl has now identified who the weak links are in the back line.

One player who hasn’t enjoyed the rub of the green this season is Jack Stephens. The Englishman has been criticised for his performances in the side with mistakes and a lack of defensive solidity proving to be his downfall.

And, a Southampton fan representing The Ugly Inside seems to have had enough of the defender as well, as he believes that he will be ‘on his way’ in the summer transfer window.

It’s not hard to see why he’s been made a scapegoat in the current campaign as his performances have done more harm than good. He’s been accountable for a countless amount of individual errors which have cost Southampton a number of points this season, so a summer exit wouldn’t exactly be surprising.

Stephens, who is valued at £7.2 million (by Transfermarkt), could be enjoying his last couple of games at St Mary’s.
