The Spurs fans in the Transfer Tavern have been taking a minute to appreciate their Argentine winger, Erik Lamela. The former Roma man, who’s been valued at £22.5 million by the good people over at Transfermarkt, put in a fantastic display in Spurs 3-1 win over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge as Spurs registered their first win at the ground in 28 years.
Despite not scoring or registering an assist at the Bridge, the Spurs fans propping our bar up have been naming Lamela as one of the key performers yesterday. Christian Eriksen scored a goal of the season contender to equalise after Alvaro Morata capitalized on a Hugo Lloris error to have the scores level at the break, however, two goals in five minutes from Dele Alli silenced the Chelsea fans, and Alli’s critics, in what was a superb Easter Sunday for all associated with Spurs.
The fierce and fiery display from Lamela was a joy to behold. The 26-year-old has been praised for knowing the meaning of a derby before and he wore his heart on his sleeve as he threw himself into challenges for the full 90-minutes. Lamela is yet to score a Premier League goal this season, although our local Lilywhites won’t mind if he can keep putting in shifts like he did yesterday as he put everything into his passionate outing at both ends of the pitch. The win for Spurs gives them an eight-point buffer between 4th and 5th as they aim for a third successive year in the Champions League.

I love the fact that Lamela did Fabregas again.

There’s not enough words to describe the ‘man-love’ I have for Erik Lamela.
Can totally appreciate he is not everyone’s cup-of-tea and seems to polarise opinion but whatever can be thrown at him there is no denying he simply ‘understands’ what a derby means to fans.#THFC #COYS pic.twitter.com/y90zdDlanX

Also, Lamela just *gets* these games doesn’t he? He hates them as much as we do.

There’s been a mixed reaction to Lamela on my TL some praising him and other slating, but you can’t argue he plays these derby games like a local lad and for that he gets my full support. A workhorse. #thfc #coys

Erik Lamela’s phenomenal hatred of Cesc Fabregas is a thing of absolute beauty. Proper Spurs

He’s been immense since returning & getting better each game. He’s been like a new signing. All this talk about Toby & Rose yet we haven’t missed them in the slightest! Focus should be on the players that wear our shirt with pride ie @ErikLamela, not the want away mercenaries.
