Manchester United completed one of the signings of the January transfer window, on paper anyway, when they confirmed a deal for Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez.
The Chilean had long been rumoured to be on his way out of the Emirates, and he got his move when United finalised a swap deal to bring the former Barcelona man to Old Trafford.
Many fans thought the signing of Sanchez would take them to the next level, but here in the Tavern, our landlord has been getting increasinly concerned that the Red Devils could well have made an expensive mistake in signing the forward.
So far, Sanchez has looked short on form and fitness to an extent, and at times, seems to be getting in the way and trying almost too hard to fit in.
Yes, he does possess quality, but United have looked arguably better when the forward has been pushed inside and Marcus Rashford or Anthony Martial has played out left, leaving many to wonder if Sanchez can have a long term place in the United starting eleven.
Mourinho may well have stopped City bagging Sanchez, which is all well and good, but at 29, one would assume Sanchez is now in his prime years, with little room for development.
If his first few weeks in a United shirt are anything to go by, then it could well be that United have made a bit of an error in signing the South American, and they may well have been better holding out until the summer, saving their money, and going big on a younger, hungrier star than Sanchez.
United fans, what have you made of Sanchez so far? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
