Anele Ngcongca: he currently plays for Belgian side, Racing Genk, and a few months ago was quoted by Football365.co.za as saying that scouts from Manchester City had been watching his progress.
” …. when we played Porto there were scouts from Manchester City and they were talking about this young South African guy and it has been hitting the newspapers here in Belgium, but you never know what is happening.“
The right-back has been in Belgium for three seasons now, and has admitted he is ready for a new challenge, and wants to prove himself in one of Europe’s major leagues.
“On my side, I am ready to be challenging in those leagues and with what I have learned in Belgium in the couple of years, I can take my game to another level.”
So, it was rumoured that City would be the ones to give Ngcongca his chance, yet reports published today by Tribal Football are suggesting that Tottenham are set to rival City’s interest in the player.
It is being suggested that the defender’s record of 4 goals in 82 appearances, plus his 10 caps for South Africa, will be proof enough for Harry Redknapp and Roberto Mancini to give Ngcongca his chance.
Valued at around £1.5m, at 23, Ngcongca could be one for the future.
