Hazard and Costa to stay? Chelsea fans react to Madrid transfer bans…

The Chelsea fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern let out a huge sigh of relief following Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid’s transfer bans…

It was yesterday revealed that both Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid had failed in their appeal to have their two-year transfer bans ratified – much to the surprise of everyone here in the Football Transfer Tavern.

The punters here in the Tavern feel that the Spanish giants are often given preferential treatment by European bodies, and so one particularly vocal fan proclaimed that he was pleased that they have been given their comeuppance.

This will come as good news to the Chelsea fans in the Tavern, given the noises that have been made in recent months over the futures of a number of their key players.

Real Madrid have, on several occasions, been touted with a big money move for Eden Hazard, whilst reports of an interest in Nemanja Matic also surfaced over the summer.

On the other side of the coin, Diego Costa has often been touted for a return back to his native Spain with old club Atletico Madrid – a move that would disappoint the Chelsea faithful down to their core.

As a result of the bans, the trio of core Chelsea players look set to remain at Stamford Bridge for at least the next two years; a feat that looked near impossible – with interest in the Chelsea trio seemingly growing year-on-year.

And to the surprise of nobody here in the Football Transfer Tavern; the Chelsea fans on Twitter have been anything but sympathetic to the fans in Madrid…

One fan was particularly excited that the club would hold on to the much sought after John Obi Mikel for another two years…

Pretty unanimous amongst the Chelsea folk here – much like in the Tavern.

Blues fans are delighted that their two main men will remain in London for at least another two years!

Chelsea fans – do you agree?
