He Cost Seville £10M, But What Will Levy Consider A Fair Price?

Another day, another Spurs striker link. Wanna have a guess who today’s mystery future number 9 is? If you guessed Arouna Kone, then you’ve also clearly been reading Italian site TuttoMercatoWeb.

Kone was signed by La Liga big boys Sevilla 5 years ago, but currently finds himself on loan at Levant. At Levant Kone has been on good form and has 11 goals this season, and has been a key member of the team, playing almost all games this season. The Ivorian international also 9 goals in 35 games for his country.

This form has apparently got Spurs, who are on constant striker watch across Europe, interested. Despite costing Sevilla £10 million pounds, he seems to have no future at the team and will be allowed to leave for significantly less.

So cheap? Check. Currently scoring? Check. International experience? check

But despite this I’m still none to happy with this link. Before this season Kone has not scored a double figure amount since 2006 at PSV. In fact forget goals, this is the first sseason in 4 he has played more than 20 games.

He has clearly not cut it a Sevilla, and Spurs should be aiming to seal Sevilla’s best players, not their cast-offs. He may not be too bad as a back-up player, but in Defoe and Saha we already have solid squad strikers.

Want we’re waiting for is a star striker, a goal-machine. And that ain’t Kone. The endless stream of Spurs striker auditions continues. Next please.
