Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern were overjoyed yesterday with their club’s victory in the FA Cup against Manchester City, which set-up a showcase final with Chelsea next month.
The Gunners, adopting a three-man defence once again, excelled tactically throughout the match, with fringe players like Gabriel Paulista and Rob Holding both impressing at the heart of defence, as Shkodran Mustafi was absent once again.
Arsenal’s star performer was playing in a previously unfamiliar position though, as Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain once again impressed when playing at wing-back, with Arsene Wenger opting to keep Hector Bellerin on the bench.
The England international provided a fantastic assist for Nacho Monreal’s second-half equaliser and was a threat down the right all game, whilst he also performed admirably in his defensive duties- showing his immense versatility.
£17m-rated Oxlade-Chamberlain was awarded the Man of the Match award following his impressive performance and Gooners flooded Twitter to sing their praises, with our landlord adding that it shows the youngster’s importance to the side.
Yeah the Ox deserved it. Just give him that new contract.

Excellent cross from Oxlade-Chamberlain. In the two games Arsenal have played with him at RWB, he's been superb.

Stronger, tougher #afc today. Oxlade-Chamberlain named man of the match, superb running down the right. Gabriel and Holding outstanding too

Oxlade-Chamberlain subbed, Arsenal's best player by some distance in my view.
