‘He don’t help himself’ – West Ham fans react to Sullivan’s recent transfer revelations

West Ham supporters have been pretty downbeat in the Transfer Tavern in the last few days after seeing their side go down 3-1 at fellow Premier League strugglers Brighton on Saturday, thus ending their six-match unbeaten run in the league.

David Moyes’ men went into their clash with the Seagulls having won two and drawn the other four of their preceding six league encounters, a run of form which put some distance between themselves and the bottom three. However, the gap now stands at just three points as goals from Glenn Murray, Jose Izquierdo, and Pascal Gross secured a comfortable victory for Chris Hughton’s side, who moved level on points with the Hammers in the Premier League table with just 12 games of the season remaining.

Consequently, there have been many unhappy West Ham fans in the Tavern in recent times, several of whom have been bemoaning their team’s ultimately frustrating January transfer window, which saw just three players arrive at the club in the form of Joao Mario, Jordan Hugill, and Oladapo Afolayan.

Yet recent comments from co-chairman David Sullivan suggest that the East London outfit weren’t denied through the lack of trying, with them reportedly launching a January move for Stoke City midfielder Joe Allen.

The 27-year-old has been an integral part of things at the bet365 Stadium in the last few years, and with appearances in all but two of the Potters’ 26 Premier League games this season, he will likely be key to their survival chances this term as well.

Nonetheless, West Ham reportedly made a £25 million offer for the Wales international, as per Sullivan, in news which has stimulated quite a response from Hammers supporters on Twitter…
