‘He should leave’ – Pragmatic Chelsea fans on Twitter react to contract update

The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are hoping Antonio Conte can secure some big-name signings in the January transfer window.

During pre-season Chelsea would have been targeting their second Premier League title in as many seasons, but after 20 fixtures they have been forced to drastically re-evaluate their expectations. Manchester City’s dominance at the top of the table so far has forced the chasing pack to focus their efforts on winning silverware elsewhere, much to the disappointment of The Blues propping up our bar. And the Chelsea fans could be set for even more disappointment in January now that the future of their star player hangs firmly in the balance.

Throughout the season, Chelsea’s manager Antonio Conte has complained about the lack of strength in depth within the current squad, but recent reports suggest he may have even more cause for concern by the end of the season.

According to Sky SportsEden Hazard’s father Thierry Hazard has claimed that his son has rejected a contract extension at Stamford Bridge in order to leave the door open for a dream move to play under Zinedine Zidane at Real Madrid, although the same report states that Chelsea are yet to offer him a contract.

Naturally, the Blues faithful on Twitter are both confused and disappointed by the news, but the majority of supporters are sympathetic and understanding of Hazard’s doubts over his future after more than 5 brilliant years in West London.
