‘He was absolutely abysmal’, ‘Wilshere is better’ – Fans react to Tottenham star’s performance against Southampton on Twitter

The resident Lilywhites were feeling miserable in the Transfer Tavern yesterday evening after they drew 1-1 with Southampton at the Saint Mary’s Stadium.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side lost further ground in their bid to finish inside the top-four this weekend after they failed to record victory against Southampton on the South-coast. Tottenham found themselves behind with just 15 minutes on the clock as Davinson Sanchez inadvertently turned the ball into his own net in an attempt to clear Ryan Bertrand’s menacing ball across the 6-yard-box.

However, Harry Kane stepped up to head home an equaliser for Tottenham just 3 minutes later after he found himself unmarked inside the 6-yard-box, and the scores remained level at 1-1 until the final whistle.

In the aftermath of proceedings, the Spurs faithful were full of frustration due to their side’s lacklustre performance, and plenty of supporters took to Twitter to vent their feelings.

One player who has come in for particularly strong criticism from fans of Tottenham and neutrals alike is 21-year-old England star Dele Alli.

Alli has been no stranger to criticism so far this season despite the fact he boasts an impressive record of 9 goal and 11 assists in all-competitions.

The former MK Dons prospect has struggled to live up to the standard he set for himself in Tottenham white last season, and it appears that his performances are beginning to rile up football fans across the country who expect so much of the young English talent.

Here’s what football fans had to say about Dele Alli’s performance against The Saints…
