The Spurs fans in the Transfer Tavern have been taking a pop at Real Madrid as the Spanish giants have reportedly enquired about the availability of Andre Villas-Boas to be Zinedine Zidane’s replacement according to AS. The news has provided a good laugh for our local Lilywhites as they can look forward to better times with Mauricio Pochettino in charge.

Pochettino was supposedly Florentino Perez’s first choice to replace Zidane at The Bernabeu. The Argentine gaffer showed his class when Spurs overcame Real Madrid 3-1 at Wembley and drew 1-1 in Madrid. Whilst the Tottenham man has been amazing in his time in his current post, it feels like it will be just a matter of time until the incredible young gaffer decides to leave North London.
Tottenham will be hoping that the day Poch leaves will be a long way away. Andre Villas-Boas was at Tottenham for just over season before being sacked by the club following a 5-0 loss at home to Liverpool. Tim Sherwood was appointed following the dismissal of Villas-Boas and then Pochettino was appointed at the end of that season. Now though, Spurs can get the last laugh with Los Blancos as they could appoint the ex-Spurs man.

This screams one year stop gap until Poch goes there.

AVB till Christmas, Sherwood for a run at 4 in a row and Poch to turn them down again next summer

Now that is heights of desperation, Zidane has left Real Madrid in a deep hole with his timing. Had he resigned a bit earlier they would have had choice between Emery, Tuchel and maybe even Pocchetino had he not renewed.

Tottenham Reject

The news of Villas-Boas doesn’t directly affect Spurs, although the fans will enjoy it anyway as the club that nearly poached Poch will end up with a Tottenham reject.
