Liverpool’s start to the season couldn’t have gone much better so far as they’ve won all four of their games while only conceding one goal.
Naby Keita and Joe Gomez have been the only real additions to the starting XI for Klopp this season but already the Reds look much better than last year. We may only be four games into the Premier League season but the early signs for Liverpool’s attack and especially defence looked very promising.
In further good news today, it was announced that Jordan Henderson has signed a new long-term deal at the club.
The 28-year-old England international has been a constant force in Klopp’s side. Ultimately, however, the England midfielder shouldn’t stop Fabinho from getting into the side as the season progresses.
Entering the prime of his career, Henderson has been a superb player for Liverpool over the years but in reality, the midfielder will eventually be replaced by Fabinho.
Joining the club for £40 million this summer, Liverpool have bought a player that turned himself into one of the better midfielders in Europe during his time at Monaco. Technically Fabinho is solid but his real strength is his ability to break up attacks and shield the back four. In a Klopp side where the other two midfielders are tasked with pressing forward, Fabinho will be ideally suited for Liverpool’s midfield when he eventually plays.
Henderson’s new deal is a reward for a player that has done well for Klopp but even so, Fabinho is the player that should and needs to come in as the season progresses.
