Henri Saivet closing in on Newcastle exit

A midfielder is closing in on a move away from Newcastle United this summer, with a deal set to be completed in the next 24 hours.

According to a report by The Northern Echo, Henri Saviet is set to join Turkish outfit Bursaspor on a season-long loan in the very near future.

The Senegal international has had a nightmare couple of years at St. James’ Park following his 2016 arrival from Bordeaux.

He made just five appearances for the club, before having loan spells with Saint-Etienne and Sivasspor, and now it looks as though he is ready to return to the Turkish Super Lig.

The 27-year-old has seen his game time extremely limited, if not non-existent, under Rafa Benitez and had been deemed surplus to requirements after the Magpies decided to not give him a squad number for the upcoming season.

The Verdict:

The writing had been on the wall for Saivet and his Newcastle career, so it does not come as a surprise to hear he will leave the club imminently.

The midfielder never really got going at St. James’ Park and has become one of their latest flops to have arrived from French football.

However, it remains to be seen if the Senegalese man will be able to make a permanent departure from the north-east, or if he will have to return to the club following his next loan spell.
