The Football Transfer Tavern has been jam packed all day as fans rush in through the doors to get a look at the newly released fixtures for the coming Premier League season, and a large contingent of Arsenal fans at the bar are still trying to work out what to make of them.
After arguably the worst season during the two-decade tenure of manager Arsene Wenger, finishing outside the Champions League places for the first time since the Frenchman took the helm in 1996, the Gunners will be looking to mount a serious title challenge to restore faith at the first time of asking.
Despite a record-breaking 13th FA Cup title, and a seventh for Wenger, it’s clear that there is a lot of work to be done at The Emirates, and our landlord is expecting some big money additions this summer.
With that in mind, a nice and easy fixture list would have been the ideal way to help the north Londoners get back on track in the Premier League.
However, after a couple of months to get into the groove of things, the Gunners will hit November, where things usually all go wrong for Wenger, and two months of torrid games.
Within the weeks leading up to the new year, Wenger will have to navigate clashes against Manchester City, rivals Tottenham, Manchester United, Southampton, West Ham and Liverpool.
Having seen the fixtures up on the blackboard here in the bar, punters are split over how they see the season going, some have taken to social media and backed Wegner to turn things around…
