The great Manchester United clear out of 2014 saw ‘tricky winger’ Nani as one of the first to be shown the exit door by Louis van Gaal.
The man dubbed ‘the new Cristiano Ronaldo’ following his arrival at Old Trafford in 2007, spent the best part of seven years showing flashes of brilliance but more often than not looking like the new Luke Chadwick!
So it didn’t come as much surprise when Louis van Gaal opted to sell Nani back to former club Sporting Lisbon almost as soon as he walked through the entrance at Old Trafford.
Nani was back in action against English opposition sooner than expected, when Chelsea travelled to the Jose Alvalade for a Champions League clash last night.
Nani went into the game with a point to prove and if that point was that he has always been overrated and overpaid, he certainly proved it.
Anyone looking for further evidence need look no further than this vine, which pretty much sums Nani up.
Perhaps nobody told him that Lisbon is different to United in the fact the referee *cough Howard Webb* isn’t actually on the same team every match…
