As the race-row continues to go on between Liverpool’s hitman Luis Suarez and Manchester United’s Patrice Evra, the Uruguayan striker has stressed that he will demand an apology from Evra if proven not guilty. What ever perspective you have on the Uruguayan hitman, he is no racist in my eyes. Yes he may be a talented actor, but did you ever think that just maybe he wants to get into the movie industry after football?
The French left back accused Suarez of racial slur after their 1-1 draw at Anfield last month, but so far there has been no evidence to back Evra’s accusations.
Suarez nicknamed “El Pistolero” is adamant that he is innocent and fully expects an apology from Evra as soon as this row is put to bed.
The 24-year-old Liverpool striker said: “We have to wait to see this issue decided and then the Manchester player and I will have to clear things up.
“Depending on who ends up in the wrong, one of us will have to apologise.
“The English FA will have to clear it up with him, because there is no proof I have said anything racist. I didn’t say anything like that to him.”
It’s not the first time Evra has accused someone of making racist remarks towards him. In 2008, Patrice Evra accused Chelsea groundsman Sam Bethell of being racist after their 2-1 defeat to Chelsea which ended up in an altercation between the two as a result. Evra’s allegations were unsuccessful and received a four match ban in the process. Three years on, and the same verdict looks inevitable for Patrice Evra.
Is Evra telling the truth, or is he just up to his old antics again. Your call?
