The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to comments from Lazar Markovic, who has criticised the club for not allowing him a permanent moving away from Anfield. The Serbian winger joined Liverpool in summer 2014 but has been unable to nail down a starting role at the club, or at any of the four clubs he’s been on loan at since that move almost four years ago. The 24-year-old made the comments whilst speaking to Voetball Krant, via Empire of the Kop.
Lazar Markovic isn't too happy with Liverpool… https://t.co/oqy2qcxCdk

The Serbian winger has struggled since he made the switch from Benfica to Liverpool at the age of just 20-years-old. Since that big money move, courtesy of the money Liverpool received for Luis Suarez, the Serbian has made just 34 appearances for The Reds, scoring three goals and being sent off once. It looks although his career on Merseyside is dead, and it’s looked that way for a very long time now.
Markovic wanted to leave the club in the recent January window but given that Liverpool want to recoup most of the fee they foolishly splashed out in him, it’s been hard for the club to find any suitors. A move to Swansea has fallen through and none of the youngster’s loan clubs had any interest in extending the 24-year-olds time with them. Currently plying his trade at Anderlecht after making a late loan move in January, the winger has made five appearances, registering one goal and one assist.

Time for the lad to go. He’s not even reached the level where he can be said to have underachieved. Been a massive disappointment.

Mo Salah is the player we were hoping Lazar Markovic would turn out to be.

He’s contradicting himself by claiming to be the same good footballer and saying that asking to at least recoup part of the fee we paid to get him is unrealistic.
