The West Ham fans in the Transfer Tavern have been responding to their club’s tweet wishing Jordan Hugill a happy birthday. The striker joined the club in January on deadline day from Preston North End, although he only managed three games in the Premier League for the Hammers and managed just over 20 minutes in total.

Hugill will be hoping he can crack the West Ham first team in the coming season under new manager Manuel Pellegrini. The Chilean gaffer took over at the club two weeks ago and his impact as has already been felt as the club have made the move to try and sign Javier Pastore from PSG and Barcelona’s Marlon Santos, both for fees of around £20 million, although both moves are from complete.
The club have got just recognised strikers in the squad in Javier Hernandez and Andy Carroll, with Hugill a 3rd choice and unlikely to pick up minutes. However, he’ll be hoping that he can impress in the domestic cups for the Irons and force Pellegrini to throw him into the action in the Premier League as he looks to make a name for himself in the division after being signed by David Moyes five months ago.

Surprised you managed to find a photo of him in action. What a rarity…
