Historic Loan Deal Could Finally Secure €20M Rated Wonderkid

Well maybe we can finally start putting one of the longest running rumours to bed, there finally seems to be an end in sight to the Eden Hazard saga, when that one is completed, it will be free drinks all round the Tavern.

For well over 12 months Belgian winger Hazard has been linked with moves to the Premier League, and in particular to Arsenal, but of late Kenny Dalglish and Liverpool have emerged as potential suitors.  Well it may not be clear WHERE he is moving yet, but thanks to our friends at talksport, we may very well know when!

Hazard moved to France at a young age and joined the youth academy of Ligue 1 side Lille in 2005.  He progressed well and made his debut for the first team towards the end of the 07-08 season.  From there on he became a first team regular, and he began to draw plaudits from all around Europe.

Now in his 4th season it appeared that he would be staying in France for a while longer, after he signed a contract extension in March of this year that tied him to the club until 2015.  Talksport reckon however that Hazard will still be sold this Summer, but that in order to sanction any sale Lille will request him back on loan immediately.

Lille currently sit on top of the pile in France and will be entering the Champions League next season, should they secure the domestic title.  The player apparently feels he owes a huge debt to the club that made him what he is today and it is for that reason that he wants to stay next season to help them with their Champions League campaign.

It is quite a noble gesture in a way and maybe he should be commended for it, it would have been very easy for him just to say thanks and move on this Summer.  At 20 years of age, I don’t see it as a particularly bad piece of business.  In fact the news is expected to bring imminent bids from Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool as attempts to sign the player move onto the next stage.

By immediately loaning Hazard back to Lile they are essentially giving a young player a season out on loan at a club playing in the top European competition and due to his age, this can only really be a good thing.  He will be 21 at the end of next season, so it is not as if it will make him too old to be effective!

Hazard will no doubt be a fine player over the coming years, and if this one year loan deal is what he takes to secure the youngster I think top clubs in Europe would be foolish to not take Lille up on the offer.
