Hodgson hopeful for good news involving Mamdou Sakho

Crystal Palace put in a dominant performance against Leicester City yesterday at the King Power Stadium, as they secured a 4-1 win over Claude Puel’s side.

The Eagles will be desperate to build on their last result but they’ll have to be at their best if they are to secure a positive result against Manchester United on Wednesday night. And, the London club face an anxious wait on the injury front, as according to, Roy Hodgson is hopeful for good news involving Mamadou Sakho.

Hodgson confirmed Sakho has suffered a recurrence of a knee problem which kept him out of action against Doncaster Rovers last week, but is hopeful for good news on Monday.

Here’s what the Englishman had to say:

“He missed a lot of training and didn’t play against Doncaster Rovers as a result of feeling the knee in the West Ham game so he was out for a week having treatment, but he trained all of this week in the lead up to this game,”

“But obviously he felt the knee again today.

“So we will have to reassess it on Monday and hope for the best.”

Mamadou Sakho, who is valued at £13.5 million (by Transfermarkt), has established himself as one of the standout performers for Crystal Palace in the current campaign.

Indeed, the Eagles will be desperate to have him back in their ranks for the clash with Manchester United as they’ll need their star defender back in the side if they are to stand any chance of securing a result.
