Hodgson must be brave and drop Milivojevic - Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace fans must be gutted after missing out on the chance to create history by being the first team to win at Tottenham Hotspur’s new stadium, as they were beaten 2-0.

The Eagles have certainly seen better days and they’ll be desperate to put things right in their next outing.

Roy Hodgson’s side will travel to St James’ Park to face Newcastle United in their next Premier League fixture later on today. The Magpies have struggled in recent times and are at risk of being dragged into the relegation picture, so they’ll have their sights set on securing a vital three points in front of home support.

Although, with such a big clash coming up later on today it’s important that Roy Hodgson gets his team selection right. And, one big decision he may have to make could involve the club captain…

Of course, many Palace fans may frown at the decision to potentially leave the Serbian, who is valued at £18 million (by Transfermarkt), on the bench, but it’s safe to say that his last performance against Tottenham Hotspur was less than acceptable.

He was at fault for the first goal in the new stadium as he was outmuscled by the small frame of Christian Eriksen and his slide deflected Son Heung-min’s shot and took it away from Vicente Guaita.

Indeed, after producing a disappointing performance that included mistakes and misplaced passes, perhaps Hodgson should make the brave decision to start him on the bench at St James’ Park.
