Hollywood director and screen writer Mike Jefferies (Goal! trilogy) is to produce a viral with UK casting director Dan Hubbard (The Damned United) in an attempt to help force out Liverpool’s American owners.
Hubbard is a big Liverpool fan and he and Jeffries will be filming in Liverpool this weekend. They are looking for influential or celebrity Liverpool fans to take part. They will be filming on Saturday 10am-6pm and on Sunday 9am-noon at Hope Street Hotel.
Hubbard has been involved in a number of huge films including The Damned United, King Kong and The Bourne Ultimatum.
Mike Jefferies was born in Liverpool and before writing and producing the Goal! Trilogy founded and sold on a number of successful media and publishing groups.
In September 2004 Jeffries was involved with trying to acquire Liverpool FC along with former Miramax Executive Stuart Ford.
Hubbard’s and Jefferies’ viral is gaining momentum, with the Daily Mirror running a story on it last week, as well as a number of mentions in U.S papers.
The viral campaign is backed by the SoS initiative, who plan to stage a sit in protest for the visit of Blackpool at the weekend. A statement released by the Supporters’ Union said: “We would like as many supporters as possible, to make their feelings known towards the owners during the Blackpool match, using banners, flags and songs. We ask everyone in the ground to make their voices heard – let everyone know you will no longer tolerate the current owners.”
The plan is to publish the viral on Youtube to gather as many views as possible and keep exposing what Hicks and Gillett are all about.
