‘Homecoming’ – Tottenham fans urge club to lure former man back after club’s post

The Tottenham Hotspur fans in the Transfer Tavern have been over the moon to see that Barcelona’s midfield general, Paulinho, has returned to Hotspur Way. The Brazilian has been picked as apart of Tite’s 23-man squad travelling to Russia this summer and ahead of the five-time World Cup winner’s friendlies against Croatie and Austria The Seleção have been training at Paulinho’s old club, Spurs.

The 29-year-old spent two seasons at Tottenham, signing from Corinthians in 2013 before leaving for Guangzhou Evergrande two summers later in 2015. The Brazilian had a superb first season as a Lilywhite, scoring eight goals from central midfield in his first year at the club, however, things went very downhill from there. In Paulinho’s second year at Spurs, he didn’t even appear in half of the club’s league games and only notched twice.

Since Paulinho made his Spurs bow and joined the Chinese Super League, he’s become a more complete player. The midfielder spent a further two years in China before Europe came calling for his services again, and he became the latest superstar to play at the Nou Camp. In Catalonia Paulinho has flourished, scoring nine goals and registering two assists as Ernesto Valverde’s side cantered towards the La Liga crown.
