‘Hope it’s true’, ‘Sign him’ – Liverpool fans identify ideal Emre Can replacement on Twitter

Chants of you’ll never walk alone could be heard ringing around the Transfer Tavern last night after Liverpool recorded an emphatic 5-0 victory over Porto at the Estadio Do Dragao.

Liverpool took a huge step towards the quarter-finals of the Champions League last night as they destroyed the undefeated Liga Nos league-leaders on their own patch in Portugal. The entirety of Liverpool’s starting eleven were in brilliant form, but the performance of their hat-trick hero Sadio Mane and his fellow goalscorers Roberto Firmino and Mo Salah deservedly stole the headlines.

The Liverpool fans will now be hoping that their side’s performance last night is a sign that perhaps they’ve turned a corner with regards to their lack of consistency. With a place in the quarter-finals virtually in the bag, Liverpool will now be hoping to strengthen their hopes of qualification for next seasons competition by continuing their fine form in the Premier League.

However, with performances like the one they displayed last night, Liverpool should be hoping to mount a title challenge next season with the acquisition of a few key signings. Emre Can is set to become a free agent this summer when his contract expires, and with doubts lingering over his future the supporters are beginning to speculate who they could bring in to replace him.

One name that consistently features in the conversations amongst The Reds faithful is Leicester City’s Wilfred Ndidi. At just 21-years-old, Ndidi already looks like he has the potential to have a bright future in the Premier League based on his performances for The Foxes so far since his transfer from Genk in 2017.

His impressive displays in defensive midfield have certainly caught the eye of the Liverpool supporters on Twitter, and as such, plenty of them have urged their club to complete a deal for his services in the summer.

Here’s what the Liverpool fans have had to say about the potential signing of Wilfred Ndidi on Twitter…
