‘Hope this doesn’t turn out like Lallana’ – Liverpool fans aren’t happy after injury update

It’s been a fantastic few days for the Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern. The build-up to the Champions League final has begun, and they confirmed their entry into the competition next season with a win over Brighton on the final day of the Premier League season.

Indeed, things couldn’t be going much better for the Reds at the moment, but unfortunately for them, they’ve received some bad news this week.

According to the Liverpool Echo, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is now not due back until November, with his injury layoff now expected to be longer than first thought at a full six months.

Fans were hoping that a summer off would allow him to be ready for the start of next season, but now that’s looking increasingly unlikely. Instead, a return at the start of the next calender year – 2019 – is more likely – especially given how long he will have to work on his match fitness for.

He’s been a crucial player for the Reds this season, having emerged as one of their most important midfielders alongside the likes of Jordan Henderson and Emre Can.

Unsurprisingly, news of a delayed return has come as a blow to the Liverpool fans over on Reddit. They’ve been taking to the platform to discuss it, and it’s fair to say that they’re very sad indeed.

Take a look at what they’ve had to say below…
