The Everton fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to their club’s final pre-match press conference of the season, as Big Sam faced the media ahead of their visit to The London Stadium on Sunday. The club has had a disappointing season, failing to get anywhere near the top-six, despite their big spending in the summer window.

After Ronald Koeman was sacked, the Toffees looked to be in serious danger of relegation. The Goodison Park faithful were left watching David Unsworth’s uninspiring Everton for over a month between sacking Koeman and appointing Allardyce, seeing their league form and league position affected by the slow decision. The awful form wasn’t helped by the toxic atmosphere around the club and their horrendous European campaign.
The club qualified for the Europa League group stages after beating Hajduk Split 3-1 in their qualifying round. After that, they were drawn into group E, but couldn’t pip Atlanta and Lyon in qualifying for the knockout stages. In fairness to Allardyce, the European damage had been done before his appointment, but that hasn’t stopped the fans from slating the former England boss at every chance they’ve got, with social media being a major platform for Allardyce abuse over the last few months.
You can read our resident Toffees’ verdict on Allardyce here:
Is there any need for the abuse? Most of us want him gone but no need for the personal insults
