The Daily Mail is reporting the interesting news that other clubs were keen to sign Steven Gerrard before he decided to move to Major League Soccer team LA Galaxy, and our punters in the Transfer Tavern are not surprised.
In Gerrard’s recent autobiography has revealed the news that big clubs in Europe enquired about his service. Tottenham, French giants Monaco and Paris Saint Germain, David Moyes side Real Sociedad and Besiktas are all said to have made contact with Gerrard and his agent.
The former Liverpool player admitted however that although a move to the likes of PSG was very tempting, he couldn’t move to a team that would potentially play against his former side as he would find it too difficult to play against them.
Liverpool fans here in the Transfer Tavern are sat here with a pint or two are wondering if this news meant Liverpool made a mistake in their decision to let him go. If so many big clubs still thought he had the ability to play at the highest level and hence tried to sign him did Liverpool let the midfielder go too early?
