According to ITA Sport Press, Chelsea’s versatile defender Branislav Ivanovic is the latest target for Russian club CSKA Moscow. It is rumoured that CSKA are prepared to offer £23million for the 27-year-old and could be successful as Ivanovic has found himself down the pecking order since the arrival of André Villas-Boas.
The Portuguese manager prefers Jose Bosingwa to Ivanovic at right back and with the preferred centre back partnership of David Luiz and John Terry, Ivanovic could seek a move elsewhere.
With Chelsea also set to pursue their interest in signing England defender Gary Cahill in January, Ivanovic feels this could be his last season with Chelsea. CSKA are ready to offer a bigger package for the Serbian defender to return back to the country that made him get noticed.
Ivanovic previously played for CSKA’s rivals Lokomotiv Moscow before his £9 million move to Stamford Bridge in 2008. The Russian club have yet to make an official bid for the versatile defender but could come in with an offer in January.
It is unlikely that the strong Serbian defender will leave in January, but if Chelsea are successful in signing Gary Cahill from Bolton and Jose Bosingwa’s form continues to get better then we could see Ivanovic force a move come the end of the year.
