So you fire 21 goals picking up the golden boot, beat the keeper five times in one game and help your side to a record 19th league tittle… and for what? To not even make the squad for the Champions league final? Possibly the hardest thing to come to terms with is witnessing that Michael Owen had piped you to the bench…
Well if I was Dimitar Berbatov I’d certainly be looking elsewhere. What more can the man from Bulgaria possibly do? Well according to Caughtoffside.com all his problems will be solved as Harry Redknapp is ready to snap up the unhappy front-man with a cut down price of £10 million to see him make a shock return to the Lane.
Berbatov has failed to hit it off with united fans despite his prolific eye for goal. The 30 year old has dismissed any talk of him leaving and the Metro have quoted him saying…
“I will go nowhere. I am part of United’s 19th title and I want to be part of the 20th, that’s my plan”.
But surely after him being dropped for what would have possibly been the height of his career he has to be considering his options. He put pen to paper and made his way to the Theatre of dreams in September 2008, in a transfer thought to be worth £30 million, and left the fans in North London seething as their No.9 left for Manchester.
Spurs certainly need a striker, and with Fergie looking to freshen up his squad he is surely prepared to sell the diverse character who could leave on a free next summer.
But the question is… how would the White Hart faithful react to this, and would he be welcome to return to the capital?
