“How far we’ve fallen”, “Wenger ruining his legacy” – Arsenal fans vent frustration at FA Cup exit

The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern were seething when the full time whistle blew in today’s FA Cup match. The Gunners turned in a lacklustre display and were outclassed by Nottingham Forest, who won the tie 4-2 and knocked Arsenal out of the FA Cup in the Third Round at The City Ground today.

Eric Lichaj nodded in to give the home side the lead before Per Mertesacker turned home an equaliser a few minutes later. But Forest retook the lead before half time when Lichaj produced an exquisite volley into the top corner.

Arsenal’s woes were worsened in the second period when Rob Holding was adjudged to have fouled Matty Cash in the box and the impressive Ben Brereton stepped up to confidently slam home from the spot.

The visitors gave themselves some late hope when Danny Welbeck rolled the ball into an empty net following a mistake from Forest goalkeeper Jordan Smith. But when Mathieu Debuchy fouled Armand Traore in the box, Kieran Dowell confirmed the victory from the spot despite slipping in his run-up.

Here is how an angry Arsenal fan base responded to this game.
