How Will Arsene Solve His Midfield Dilemma?

Abou Diabyhas recently undergone surgery on an injured ankle, which will keep him on the sidelines for up to 10 weeks.

The French midfielder was troubled by the joint towards the end of last season and it forced him out of the pre-season tour of Asia and the club’s training camp in Germany.

The 25-year-old is said to be out for up to 10 weeks as he recovers, meaning he will miss The Gunners Premier League clashes against Newcastle, Liverpool and Manchester United, as well as the Champions League play-off.

So with Diaby out of action for over 2 months, Denilson out on a season long loan at Sao Paulo, and the futures of both Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri still in doubt, Arsene Wenger seems to have a midfield dilemma occurring.

The question on everyone’s mind now is – who will replace Diaby in centre midfield when/if both Nasri and Cesc depart?

If there was ever a need for Wenger to act fast, its now.

With a limited number of centre midfielders within his squad, Wenger may have to purchase one or two, should the worst transpire.

Reports are suggesting that Valencia’s Juan Mata is the most likely target and, in my opinion, would be a great buy. Should this deal happen, it would allow Mata to play wide and Wilshere or Ramsey as the man in the middle, should Fabregas complete his move to boyhood club Barcelona.

Either way, Wenger has to find a suitable replacement for Diaby with only 32 days left in the summer transfer window. Hopefully we will see a few new players come in to fill the gaps that could potentially be left by Fabregas, Nasri and now Diaby.
