Huddersfield shocked the world when they defeated Reading in the Championship playoff final to make it to the Premier League for the first time in their history last month.
Under David Wagner, the club managed to secure their status among English footballs elite, and next season will be the ultimate test of Wagner’s policy and ways of playing.
Our landlord has been welcoming the Terriers fans into the bar over the past few weeks with open arms though, and there’s been plenty of banter already flying about between them and some of our regular punters.
Next season though, they are going to need goals, and our landlord thinks they should take a punt on a former England international to help them, The man in question? Darren Bent.
Despite not being the most obvious pick, Huddersfield will need to target players who are within their remit, and someone of the experience which Bent carries will be hard to find.
Currently at Derby, he has not exactly found his best for the Rams, but there is no question about his ability in front of goal, and he is the sort of player who the young players in the Terriers squad could learn plenty from.
Bent would not cost the world, and for one season he might well be worth the punt for Wagner as he looks to do the unthinkable again and lead his team to Premier League safety.
Terriers fans, would you take Bent? Give us your thoughts!
