West Ham United are beginning to show signs of life under new boss David Moyes, with the Hammers’ resounding 4-1 win over Huddersfield Town last weekend lifting the East London side five points clear from the bottom three.
Fans here in The Transfer Tavern are pleased with the progress of their side under the experienced Scot, and hope to see further progression over the remaining weeks of the transfer window through new additions to the squad. Our landlord caught up with The London Stadium regulars to talk all things West Ham, with their defensive frailties at the back the biggest concern. The back line needs bolstering with a several new additions, and fans here in The Tavern are keen to see Moyes stump up the cash for a move for Huddersfield man, Christopher Schindler.
The German has been sensational since his switch to the then Championship side from 1860 Munich for a then club record fee, with the former Germany U21 international an integral member of the Terriers side that secured a shock promotion. Now the most consistent player for the West Yorkshire side in the Premier League, clubs are taking notice of Schindler’s talents, and Moyes must ensure he is the man who moves first for the player. The player has started all but one league match for David Wagner’s side this season, and his passion on the field is unmatched within the Terriers squad. This is what West Ham have lacked at the back at times this season, and if Moyes can pull off this move, the Hammers will certainly be strengthened as a defensive unit.
Rated at just £2.70m on Transfermarkt, the German could be a bargain buy this month.
