After rumours emerged last week that West Ham and Newcastle were planning a swap deal with Andy Carroll and Jonjo Shelvey, we discussed whether this would be a good move for The Hammers.
Carroll has one of the worst injury track-records in English football and is a danger for any club due to the amount of time he spends on the sideline. That has certainly been the case at West Ham, as he does not appear to be a favourite of Manuel Pellegrini’s. For Carroll’s unreliability, Shelvey is dependable, as he consistently performs for Newcastle.
With that in mind, we asked you whether you would like West Ham to swap Carroll for Shelvey, and these were the results:
This is quite resounding, and shows how the West Ham fans view Carroll, with 88% supporting this deal. Equally, this could show the respect that they have for Shelvey, a player that could create quite a partnership with Declan Rice in the midfield.
