Huge boost emerges for Everton fans ahead of Leicester City clash

Everton supporters have been pretty quiet in the Transfer Tavern in recent times given their team’s distinct lack of form, with the Toffees having taken just three points from their last six Premier League matches.

The Merseyside outfit certainly felt the new manager buzz when Sam Allardyce was appointed as Ronald Koeman’s successor back in November, with the former England boss overseeing four victories from his first five games in charge. However, since their 3-1 win over Swansea City just before Christmas, Everton have drawn three and lost three of their six league games, and also lost 2-1 to Liverpool in the third round of the FA Cup to extend their wait for trophy success in the world’s oldest club competition for another year at least.

Thus, there have been many downbeat Evertonians in the Tavern in the last few weeks, yet their mood is likely to have hugely improved by recent comments from Allardyce in his pre-Leicester City press conference (via Ben Dinnery on Twitter) regarding the fitness of right-back Seamus Coleman.

The 29-year-old suffered a double leg break back in March 2017 following a horrendous tackle from Wales’ Neil Taylor while on international duty with the Republic of Ireland, and as such hasn’t featured for the Toffees since.

However, the supremely talented full-back has featured for the club’s Under-23 side in recent times in a bid to build up his fitness, and Allardyce has since disclosed a huge boost by confirming that Coleman will be in the squad for the visit of Claude Puel’s Leicester on Wednesday.

And this news is sure to delight our resident Everton fans, with Coleman’s return likely to feel like a new signing for the Merseysiders as they seek to end their recent run of poor form.

Landlord’s verdict: Seamus Coleman has been an outstanding defender for Everton in recent years, but suffered a horrific leg break while on duty with the Republic of Ireland in March last year following a horrendous tackle from Neil Taylor.

As such, the 29-year-old has been on the sidelines since then but has slowly built up his fitness in the last few weeks with minutes for the Toffees’ Under-23 side, suggesting that a comeback with the first team was on the horizon.

And manager Sam Allardyce has confirmed that the comeback could take place on Wednesday as Coleman is reportedly in the Everton squad for the visit of Leicester City, with the England boss likely hoping that the right-back’s eagerly anticipated return could galvanise the squad and propel them to a much-needed three points at Goodison Park.
