Liverpool fans here in the Tavern continue to drink their sorrows away, as Monday night’s result halted an impressive unbeaten run for the Reds.
Indeed, Jurgen Klopp’s side had their 18 game unbeaten streak flattened on Monday night, as bottom side Swansea City managed to inflict a demoralising 1-0 defeat on the Reds. Although, there’s been some positive developments to start the week off for supporters, as according to reports in the Telegraph, Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson is edging closer to a return from injury as he hopes to join up with the squad this weekend.
The Reds seemed to dismiss any signs of missing Jordan Henderson in the side after building on their unbeaten streak, but with a lack of leadership being shown in Monday’s performance they’ll be happy to see him back in the side. Although, Jurgen Klopp is yet to make the decision on whether fans will see him back in the side as soon as the weekend, with the FA Cup clash against West Brom perhaps proving to be too soon for the 27-year-old.
But, the important development is that he’s been taking part in full training with the rest of his teammates, after picking up a hamstring injury back in December. Still, with some crucial games coming up in the Reds’ schedule over the next couple of weeks, Klopp is taking a slightly cautious approach to things with a setback potentially costing the club massively.
Although, for a player that has aspirations to secure a seat on the plane to Russia for the World Cup later this year, Henderson will be desperate to make a return to the Liverpool side as soon as he possibly can.
Henderson will be a huge boost for this Liverpool side, both as their captain and leader these aspects of his game have been a huge miss at important times in games gone by. Along with missing the unselfishness of the player’s choice to sit back and defend, that’s caused for the Liverpool midfield to be caught out at times during his absence.
