Everton fans in the Transfer Tavern will be expecting their side to build in the summer, and recent reports suggest that they could be set to sign an experienced Premier League midfielder.
The Toffees have had a season that they will want to quickly put behind them, despite sitting comfortably in mid-table. After Everton started the campaign in poor form, Ronald Koeman was ousted from his role as manager before David Unsworth temporarily took charge during a period of uncertainty for the club.
The locals then saw Sam Allardyce installed as the new boss in November, and plenty of our punters have been deeply unimpressed by his impact so far, despite the fact he has guided them clear of the relegation zone. However, the club were expecting to qualify for the Europa League once again after they spent big in the summer transfer window of 2017, so they will be eager to achieve those aims next year.
The Mirror are claiming that Everton have already made movements in the transfer window for further additions by offering Jack Wilshere a contract which has been described as a “huge offer”. The Arsenal midfielder is thought to be attracting a lot of interest from other Premier League sides as he continues his contract stand-off with the Gunners.
It is rumoured that the Toffees will need to compete with Liverpool, Manchester City and also newly-promoted Wolverhampton Wanderers should they want to bring him to Goodison Park, whilst Juventus and AC Milan are also thought to be keen.
The Everton fans in the Tavern will be wanting the club to bolster their squad this summer so they can qualify for European football next season. A number of the locals are desperate for the club to bring the 26-year-old to Goodison Park, as his ability to dictate play from midfield would be a valuable asset in Everton’s quest to achieve a top-six finish.
