Southampton will be desperate to improve under Mark Hughes as they’ve failed to win in their last five fixtures in all competitions.
The Saints could find themselves floating adrift at the bottom of the table if they’re not careful, with teams starting to pick up points around them.
Interestingly, Southampton will welcome Manchester United to St Mary’s in their next Premier League fixture. The Red Devils haven’t been in the best of form recently, so the Saints should set their sights on pulling off a major upset in front of home support later on today.
With that in mind, Hughes must get his team selection right by selecting these TWO Southampton players…
Stuart Armstrong struggled to settle down to the life in the Premier League towards the start of the current campaign, but he has really come into his own in recent times.
Indeed, the former Celtic midfielder managed to grab a brace against Fulham in their last Premier League outing, but this wasn’t enough as the Cottagers secured all three points.
So, with the 26-year-old starting to fire in the red and white stripes, Hughes should be turning to him as the man to help the Saints cause an upset at Old Trafford.
Jannik Vestergaard hasn’t quite managed to ensure defensive solidity at all this season season, but he has definitely added more quality to the Saints’ back line.
The Denmark international had to settle for a place on the substitutes’ bench last time out against Fulham, as they conceded three goals away from home.
Therefore, after witnessing Wesley Hoedt’s horror performance against Claudio Ranieri’s men, it’s about time Hughes brought Vestergaard back into the starting lineup in an attempt to try and sure things up defensively.Like what the TT have on offer? Sign up for more notifications!
