Hughes rebuild at Southampton continues as club release official statement

Southampton fans in the Transfer Tavern will be preparing to say their goodbyes as one of their players will leave the club at the end of the month.

The club’s official website has announced that Dusan Tadic will leave St Mary’s Stadium and join Ajax on an undisclosed fee on a four-year deal, thought to be worth around £17.5million according to a report in The Sun.

The 29-year-old, who is currently at the World Cup with Serbia, joined the Saints four years ago from the Eredivisie, making over 160 appearances across all competitions and scoring 23 times – per the club’s website.

The attacking midfielder has been an influential member of the side during his time on the south-coast and played a huge role in keeping the club in the Premier League last season after a frustrating time.

The residents will have been hoping to have kept Tadic in order to focus on their rebuild for Mark Hughes’ first full season in charge, however, they will know need to look elsewhere.

Landlord’s Verdict

The Saints in the Tavern will be hugely disappointed to see Tadic leave after four rather successful years at St Mary’s, having hoped that they could have kept him at the club.

As mentioned, the Serbia international has been hugely influential during his time and a number of the locals will be hoping to see the club bring someone in that can have the same impact as the 29-year-old.
