Hull City boss becomes leading candidate for Aston Villa vacancy

Steve BruceSteve BruceThe Aston Villa fans who are competing in a pool tournament in The Transfer Tavern this evening are discussing reports that a new managerial candidate has become the new favourite to land the manager’s job at their club.

The Independent is reporting that Hull City manager Steve Bruce has jumped ahead of Nigel Pearson in the race to replace Remi Garde at Villa Park.

Bruce is no stranger to life as a Championship manager and Villa bosses see his experience as vital to the club regaining their Premier League status at the end of next season.

The former Manchester United has had a fine season in charge of Hull City and has them batting for promotion back to the Premier League with a playoff berth more or less confirmed.

Our landlord in The Tavern believe that should Villa tempt Bruce away from Hull he would be a coup of an appointment who could bring the good times back to Villa Park.

As for the Villa fans, they are not so sure that they want a former Birmingham manager in charge of their club and would favour Nigel Pearson to be given the top job at the club.

Is Bruce the right man to get Villa back into the Premier League? Let us know in the comments below!
