Hul City’s Phil Brown divides opinion. Is he an excellent manager and motivator that orchestrated promotion to the Premiership and survival for Hull in successive seasons? Or is a perma-tanned, headset-wearing idiot who does not have a clue what he is doing?
Brown has done well to keep Hull in the Premiership. After an excellent start last season where they beat the likes of Arsenal and Spurs, Hull stuttered and only just survived on the last day of the season. This season, Hull are in the midst of a relegation battle and are currently 18th in the table. Can Brown work his managerial prowess and save Hull?
The flip side of Brown is his reputation as a lover of fake tan, the headset and someone who holds his team-talk’s in the middle of the pitch, as he did in the loss to Man City last year. Brown also performs random crucial interventions, after “saving” a woman who was going to jump off the Humber Bridge last year. Brown, evidently proud of this feat, was bragging about it, despite reports that it never happened from the police. Brown was probably trying to divert attention away from his team’s dismal showing at the time.
Ultimately there is only one Phil Brown – but maybe that’s a good thing. But at least he isn’t getting caught visiting brothels like a certain Mr G****…
